Default The Touch Ranger Debate

Ok, first off if this is in the wrong forum I'm sorry, just thought it'd get some views here. This is about the touch ranger thing, how many people want em nerfed. I know we've all heard the argument many times, but what I don't think they should be nerfed. They're easy enough to beat, degen and what not, but for those who think they absolutely have to be nerfed, could it be done fairly? By fairly I mean make them less effective without completely destroying the character people worked on. Maybe make the touch/bite recharge a little longer so they can't be spammed as well as they currently can be. I hate it when people say "well make it a spell instead of a skill" because you may as well be using a Necro primary if that happened. Just my two cents (and what's with the "it takes no skill to play!1!one!"? Touchies don't only use their two touch skills. They throw out OoB for energy management, whirling defense for protection, barbed signet when energy's too low for a touch skill, and dodge or zojuns for running. Seems to me like they use all their skills just like other builds =X)

I use a toucher, and get so much flame and anger in AB's.. but what the other team doesnt relize is that THEY have touchers TOO.

*hitself* That annoyes me..

I think touchers are good the way they are. Ive beat many with my bunny thumper, just because i can outdmg them(sometimes). Why do people hate an effective build?

IF YOU HATE IT, MAKE SOMETHING THAT KILLS IT AND SHUT UP. x.x

Eh, anything in PvP that can win with a concept around a skill is considered "noob". You know, IWAY, AoE smite, Touching...

once upon a time, on a land ravaged by war, a fort stood still against the luxon invasion, amber runners desperately tried to get some amber inside to keep things repaired and ready to fight, a luxon ranger/necromancer sneaked his way behind a mesmer, the mesmer did not see his stalker, and so she ran towards the gatekeepers to deliver the precious material, once inside she realized her mistake, the ranger/necromancer went straight to the gatekeeper, the gatekeeper started to fight the ranger, but with his many evade skills he was not hitting him, and his necro touch skills healed the little damage he dealt to him.

the mesmer, sworn to correct her mistake, casted diversion on the ranger, moments before he casted his touch skill, later, she casted three degening hexes on the ranger, with only one touch skill to steal life, the ranger used it frantically, but he didnt noticed that the mesmer had casted another diversion on him, and thus, was rendered almost useless, he then tried to ran away, but the degening hexes... killed him, and thus, the mesmer saved the day... at least for a time, before the luxon minion master overwhelmed the remaining of the defense forces.

Been discussed and discussed and discussed...it's getting old

And to those people that always say touch rangers take no skill...I'd like to see them use my mad focus swapping skills when OoB is recharging and I'm out of energy

^That means I run a touch, sometimes.

I enjoy nothing more than running around in alliance battles, finding the touchers, and crippling/poisoning them the whole match. I don't really have a problem with the build, just how everyone thinks they are awesome, when they are rather mediocre.

I think rangers are a bit overpowered but not as much as people immagine they are.

After a while touchers are pretty stupid now. Energy Denial + SS = touch me to death

Since movement is pretty important in AB and Aspenwood, I always try to bring a snare and/or a speed boost. That normally handles any problems with touch rangers.

Blah blah Blah blah Blah blah Blah blah. QQ.

For some reason touch rangers remind me of iway. People run it, people can't beat it, people bitch about it.

Figure out a way to make these guys just another build that you see and don't mind, or else you're not going to have very much fun in the future.

I'm glad some people feel the same.

Ensign said once that, yes, a decent-to-good PvP player can slaughter touch rangers, but for people just starting out, they're a nightmare. Yes, adapt and change, but for the newer players, something like a touch ranger is bound to be incredibly frustrating for them, moreso than nearly everything else, likely even turning them off of PvP entirely.

I agree that they could use a small nerf, for that reason.

This is getting old.
Instead of wasting time complaining, just figure out a counter build for it with your prof.
For mesmer, I like to use degen (also Crippling Anguish) and just run from them.
Best way to counter touchies is to run. If they use speed buffs, slow them down or cripple them.

Thats why my touchy is called "Get Over It And Run"

Touchers are easy to counter just like Iway, probably easier, so get over it everyone that thinks they are overpowered.

what i love is how people want to have it both ways. they love to say how much they hate touch rangers but then they want to brag about how quickly they can kill them. dosent everyone have that one story about how quick they killed an iway team/touch ranger? personaly i play the bad touch (pvp and pve) they are fun, something people seem to be forgeting about.

The easiest way to make touch rangers less annoying without ruining them completely would be to increase the recharge on Vampiric Touch/Bite, imo...

Touchers are only a pain in the ass when they have more than 4 on a side.
